A Living Equestrian World
Topline runs around the clock. Horses train, age, and compete whether you're online or not — every real day moves the world two game days forward. Join free and start building your stable legacy.
Create Free AccountThe Basics
Topline is a persistent horse simulation. Every horse in the game exists in real time — ageing, training, and competing on an automated schedule. The world doesn't pause when you log out.
Time in Topline moves at two times the real-world rate. One real day equals two game days, so a game year passes in around six months.
We are a game that is designed for those who want more from a horse simulation game, those who want something to strive towards. We aren't a game for those who want quantity over quality. Topline is not about how many horses you own.
The simulation ticks every day, advancing your horses' development, training, and health automatically.
Every horse carries a unique genome — allele pairs for movement, jumping ability, temperament, stamina, and health. Offspring inherit from both parents, with rare traits emerging over generations.
Members host shows and scoring is calculated from stats, genetics, and training level, with realistic variance built in.
Membership
- All members must go by a human-like name. (ie. Joann, Charlotte, etc.)
- You must be at least sixteen (16) years-of-age to play Topline. No exceptions will be made.
- No double playing is permitted.
- Topline is free to play. However we do offer a Premium subscription with higher limits and special features.
- We expect all members to treat one-another with respect. We all come from different backgrounds with different life experiences and education.
- Exploiting or taking advantage of other members or game mechanics in anyway will not be tolerated.
- Topline tracks activity by site logins and forum posts — Discord activity does not count. After 90 days without logging in, your account is flagged as inactive and you'll receive a warning. You then have 7 days to log in and restore your standing.
- If no login occurs within that window, your account will be removed. Any horses left behind are moved to The Haven for other players to claim — they are never deleted.
- Going somewhere? Declare a hiatus in the Hiatus board before your 90-day clock runs out. A hiatus pauses your inactivity clock for up to 60 days and fully protects your account, horses, and currencies. Hiatuses can be declared once per 12-month period; contact staff if you need an extension.
Community
Topline is built around a living community of players. The forum is the heart of that community — where stable histories are written, horses are sold, breeding deals are struck, and the culture of Belverra takes shape. Discord is the companion to that — real-time, fast-moving, and tied directly to your game account.
The Topline forum at forum.toplinesim.com is the official record of community discussion. It is where we expect the bulk of player interaction to take place. Discord is fast — the forum is permanent.
- Link your forum account under Account → Forum to unlock Laurel rewards for hitting post milestones.
- The forum is moderated. The same conduct standards that apply in-game apply there.
- Horse sale listings, breeding advertisements, and stable introductions all live on the forum.
- Announcements, rule changes, and official game updates are posted there first.
Our Discord server is a live companion to the game. Show results, new foals, and approved shows post there automatically. To gain access you must link your Topline account — Discord is not a separate community, it is an extension of your stable.
- Link your Discord account under Account → Discord. You'll receive 10 Laurels for connecting.
- Once linked, join the server and head to the read me first channel to gain access to the rest of the server.
- Your in-game prestige tier syncs to your Discord role automatically each day.
- Premium subscribers receive access to the exclusive #premium-lounge channel.
Active forum members earn Laurels for hitting post count milestones. Link your account to start tracking.
Show results, new foals, and approved upcoming shows post to Discord automatically — no need to refresh the site.
Your Discord roles reflect your in-game prestige tier and subscription status, updated daily by the tick.

Horses
Horses are the soul of Topline, they are the reason we exist.
- Foundation horses have no pedigree and cost one (1) Voucher to "import".
- Foundation horses start at a level that takes into account their age and training background with a cap.
- Bred horses begin at the __.
- Foundation horses have the following background options:
- Campaigned - Actively shown and competed. Age-appropriate level and full stat development.
- Lightly Worked - Ridden regularly but not competed. Lower level, moderate development.
- Green/Unstarted - Little to no formal training. Starts at the bottom regardless of age.
- You may own as many horses as you have stalls.
- Horses must meet certain requirements in order to advance in their discipline (see disciplines section below).
- Horses may be trained to gain stats and to change their discipline (see the training section).
- Horses may change their disciplines (see below).
- A horse's discipline can be changed from their profile page. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.
- Compatible discipline pairs retain 65% of discipline-specific stats. Incompatible pairs retain 45%.
- Universal stats (stamina, athleticism, bravery, etc.) carry over at 100%.
- The horse's competition level will reset to the age-appropriate starting level for the new discipline.
- Trainer assignment and all qualifications will be cleared.
- A 180 game day (~90 real days) cooldown applies before the discipline can be changed again.
- A horse's health status can be found on their page. All new horses start with a full bill of health.
- Horses must be at least three (3) years of age and have at least sixty (60) health to be bred.
- Horses must have at least fifty (50) health to compete. Horses with health below this will be blocked from entering.
- Health and farrier services are provided by member owned businesses.
Check out the Health & Animal Care Guide for a detailed guide on how the health system works. Read the Health Guide →
Disciplines & Levels
Ten disciplines across English, Saddleseat, Western, Driving, and Endurance — each with distinct stat weights, competition formats, and level progressions. A specialist horse will always outperform a generalist at the top levels.

Stable Prestige
Your stable earns prestige through participation — shows entered, foals bred, and competitive results. Higher tiers unlock new features and carry real recognition in the community.
Show Hosting
Experienced players can host their own shows for the community. Hosting unlocks at Tier 2 (Competitor) — 30 shows entered. Shows you host are open to all eligible players in Belverra and run on real-world dates.
Head to the Show Calendar and click Create a Show. Fill in the show details before adding your classes.
- Region — Shows are tied to a region. Your home region is selected by default. National/open shows can only be created by staff.
- Show Name — Give your show a clear, memorable name. e.g. Millbrook Spring Classic.
- Association — If you run an association, you can link the show to it. Entry fees will flow to the association treasury rather than your wallet.
- Description — Optional. Use this for venue details, special notes, or atmosphere.
- Show Date — The real-world date the show will be run on.
- Entries Close — The last day entries are accepted. Entries close at midnight UTC on this date — set it to the day before your show date to give yourself a clean cutoff.
- Entry Fee — A flat Rosette fee charged per class at run time, not at entry time. You are exempt from paying fees on your own show.
- Default Prize Pool — Rosettes distributed to placings in each class. Can be overridden per class.
- Breed Restriction — Optionally restrict your entire show to a breed group or individual breed. Individual classes can override this using the button on the class tag.
Classes are built using the quick-add panel. You can add them one at a time or bulk-add across multiple levels at once.
- Discipline & Level — Select a discipline first; eligible levels populate automatically. Use the level checklist to select multiple levels and add them all in one click.
- Test / Pattern / Phase — For disciplines with specific tests/phases (e.g. Dressage, Eventing, Working Equitation), an optional sub-level field appears.
- In-Hand — Creates an in-hand class open to any horse regardless of discipline or level. Optionally filter by age group and gender.
- Young Horse — Restricts the class to horses aged 4–7.
- Entry Cap — Maximum entries. 0 means unlimited.
- Allow Crosses — Whether crossbred horses are eligible alongside a breed restriction.
- Templates — Save your class list as a template for quick reuse on future shows. Association members can also access association templates.
Once the show date has arrived, a Run Show button appears on the show page. Click it to score all classes and publish results. Shows are run manually — the system will not run your show for you.
- Classes with less than two (2) entries will be canceled and no fees charged. This limit will change in the future!
- Entry fees are charged to all entrants at run time. You are exempt from your own show's fees.
- Large classes (20+ entries) split into sections automatically, with a combined final for Champion and Reserve.
- Prize pools are distributed to placings. Independent show fees go to your wallet; association show fees go to the association treasury.
- All entrants receive result notifications. Results are also announced on Discord.
Shows run on or before their show date earn the full hosting reward for the host. Entries close at midnight UTC on the closing date you set.
Classes with 20 or more entries split into sections automatically. The top qualifiers from each section advance to a combined final for Champion and Reserve.
Save any class list as a template to reuse on future shows. Association templates are available to all members of that association.
Competition
- Horses are limited to entering a maximum of six classes per show.
- Horses have to meet the minimum age requirement for the level as well as any additional qualification criteria.
- Retired horses may not compete.

Training
Every horse trains automatically on a baseline programme every game day. Players who assign custom training plans and hire specialist trainers will develop better horses — but no one is penalised for letting the automation run.
All horses receive daily training automatically. Stat gains are modest but consistent — your horses always improve.
Override the baseline with a targeted training focus. Players who actively manage training programmes see meaningfully faster development.
Trainer speciality matters. A dressage specialist accelerates collection and rhythm far more than a generalist. Trainer quality is the single biggest lever in a horse's development arc.
Dogs
Alongside the horses of Belverra run dogs — working dogs, sport dogs, and companions built for purpose. Dogs live in kennels on your stable, train automatically each day, and compete in their own show circuit. Breed them across generations and watch conformation improve as you select for quality.
Agility, Canicross, Conformation, Herding, Protection, Rally Obedience, Retrieving, Scent Work, and Tracking — each with unique stat weights and level ladders.
Breed pairs to produce litters of 1–8 pups. Conformation is inherited from both parents and cannot be trained — your breeding decisions shape it over generations.
From Border Collies to Bloodhounds, each breed carries natural aptitudes for certain disciplines that give them a head start in their native sports.

Regions
When you create your stable, you choose one of ten regions as your home. Your region is permanent — it shapes your stable’s identity, the breeds most common in your area, and the local shows on your calendar. Every stable competes on the same national circuit regardless of region, so your home is where you come from, not a limit on where you can go.
Certain bloodlines appear more often in your home region’s horse pool. You can buy and breed any horse regardless of region, but local availability reflects regional culture.
Regional shows run alongside the national calendar, giving you more frequent opportunities to compete close to home. These feed qualification points into the national circuit.
All ten regions compete together at the national level. No region has a competitive advantage — only preparation and breeding do.
Player lore — Members can contribute stable histories and regional flavour text. The official canon for each region is set, but the stories within it are written by the community. Read the full region lore →
